Ceol ag croílár ár ndúchais – Music, at the heart of our traditional culture

Edinburgh is famed for its traditional music sessions. Many internationally acclaimed players such as Cathal McConnell and our own Mary McCarthy came to live here from the late 1970’s onwards and brought vitality and cross-fertilization to an already rich musical landscape. Outstanding Irish musicians of all ages can be found in the local sessions and many more teach music in local schools and Saturday workshops while working throughout the Lothians. The Little Ireland Arts Collective aims to bring these fabulous performers into the spotlight whenever possible.

There are many more Irish artists in Edinburgh and the Lothians. Visual artists, filmmakers, poets and dreamers are perpetually drawn into the pulsing life of the cultural powerhouse that is Edinburgh each August and many, like us, have stayed. Our Collective is a flexible, welcoming and nurturing home where they know they are valued. In the spirit of the Céilí House, with its comforting sounds of familiar songs and ancient tunes, there’s always a place for the newcomer, the recently arrived.
